Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Company website (the “Company Site”) and your relationship with The Pets People Limited (the “Company”, “we” or “us”). Please read them carefully as they affect your rights and liabilities under the law. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, please do not register for or use the Company Site. If you have any questions on the Terms and Conditions, please contact us using our “Contact Us” facility.

1 Definitions:

1.1 “the Company”, “we”, “our”, “us” means The Pets People Limited

1.2 “You”, “Your”, “The user” means the person or business persons whom the use of this website is intended and the Terms and Conditions apply.

1.3 “Website”, “Company Site” means www.thepetspeople.co.uk

2 Use of the Company Site

The Company Site is provided to you for your commercial and/or private use subject to these Terms and Conditions. By using the Company Site you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. References to these Terms and Conditions include our Privacy Policy, our Suply of Services Terms and our Terms for Submission of Material which are deemed to be incorporated in these terms and conditions

3 Amendments

We reserve the right to update, modify or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time (including our prices), either to comply with legal or regulatory requirements or to allow the proper operation of the Company Site, without any notice to you. Whilst it is your responsibility to check the Terms and Conditions periodically for any changes made, if and when practicable, we shall inform you via email of changes that have occurred. If you do not wish to accept the new Terms and Conditions you should not continue to use the Company Site. If you continue to use the Company Site after the date on which the change comes into effect, your use of the Company Site indicates your agreement to be bound by the new Terms and Conditions.

4 Registration

To advertise or submit material on the Company site, you will need to register.

Upon registration on the Company Site:

4.1 You confirm that you are eighteen years of age or over.

4.2 You confirm the details provided by you on registration or at any time are correct and complete.

4.3 You agree to inform us immediately of any changes to the information that you provided when registering by updating your personal details in order that we can communicate with you effectively.

4.4 You confirm that you have not been issued with a caution or been convicted of a criminal offence in relation to animals or animal welfare, including but not limited to offences under “The Protection of Animals Act 1911”; “Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953”; The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991”; Abandonment of Animals Act 1960”; Wild Animals (Protection) Act 1966”; “Criminal Damage Act 1971” or committed any act which would contravene any applicable law.

4.5 You confirm that you are a resident within, or your Company is registered within England, Scotland or Wales.

All personal information required to register on the website and supplied to us by you shall be protected and used in accordance with our terms as set out in our Privacy Policy.

On the creation of your account, you agree to be sent automated emails from us to confirm your operation of your account i.e. should you change your password or personal details, we would send to you an automated email to confirm this.

5 Password and Security

When you register to use the Company Site you will be asked to create a password. In order to prevent fraud, you must keep this password confidential and must not disclose it or share it with anyone. If you know or suspect that someone else knows your password you should Log into your account and use the “Account Info” password facility to change your password. We shall not  be liable for any loss or detriment suffered as a result of a third party having knowledge and/or access to your password, (save as a result of the Company’s negligence).

If the Company has reason to believe that there is likely to be a breach of security or misuse of the Company Site, we may require you to change your password or we may suspend your account.

6 Intellectual Property

The content of the Company Site is protected by copyright, trade marks, database right and other intellectual property rights. You may retrieve and display the content of the Company Site on a computer screen, store such content in electronic form on disk (but not any server or other storage device connected to a network) or print one copy of such content for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided you keep intact all and any copyright and proprietary notices. You may not otherwise reproduce, modify, copy or distribute or use for commercial purposes any of the materials or content on the Company Site without written permission from the Company.

7 Your use of the Company Site

You may not use the Company Site for any of the following purposes:

7.1 disseminating any unlawful, harassing, libellous, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable material or otherwise breaching any laws;

7.2 transmitting material that encourages conduct that constitutes a criminal offence, or otherwise breaches any applicable laws, regulations or code of practice;

7.3 interfering with any other person’s use or enjoyment of the Company Site; or

7.4 making, transmitting or storing electronic copies of materials protected by copyright without the permission of the owner.

7.5 You will be responsible for our losses and costs resulting from your breach of this clause 7.

8 Availability of the Company Site

Although we aim to offer you the best service possible, we make no warranty that the services at the Company Site will always meet your requirements. We cannot guarantee that the services will be fault-free. If a fault occurs with the Company Site we will attempt to correct the fault as soon as we reasonably can.

Your access to the Company Site may be occasionally restricted to allow for repairs, maintenance or the introduction of new facilities or services. We will attempt to restore the service as soon as we reasonably can. Therefore the website shall be operational on an “as is” and “as and when available” basis.

The Company makes no representations or warranties to you that the Company Site shall be uninterrupted, free from any virus’ or other harmful content or material to the Company Site.

9 The Company’s right to suspend or cancel your registration


We may suspend or cancel your registration immediately at our reasonable discretion or if you breach any of your obligations under these Terms and Conditions.

You can cancel your registration at any time by completing the “Close Account” form located within your user account. If you do so, you must stop using the Company Site for advertising your goods or services.

The suspension or cancellation of your registration and your right to use the Company Site shall not affect either party’s statutory rights or liabilities.

10 Liability Disclaimer

The Company Site provides content from other Internet sites or resources and while the Company tries to ensure that material included on the Company Site is correct, reputable and of high quality, it does not make any warranties or guarantees in relation to any of the content supplied. If the Company is informed of any inaccuracies in the material on the Site we will attempt to correct the inaccuracies as soon as we reasonably can. You use the Company Site at your own risk.

Our liability shall not in any event include business losses such as lost data, lost profits, business interruption, goodwill and any other intangible losses. We will not be held liable for faults to the Company Site which are a result of an occurrence which is outside the control of the Company such as an act of God, war, riot, terrorism, government action, theft, destruction or a strike by any third party.

We shall not be liable for any damages, without limitation, whether direct or indirect or consequential, howsoever arising from your use of the website or in respect of any of your actions or omissions taken in reliance on any of the advice or information contained on the Website or to any Website to which the Website is linked. 

This clause 10 shall not limit or affect our liability if something we do negligently causes death or personal injury.

11 Third Party Websites

As a convenience to customers, the Company Site includes links to other websites or material which are beyond its control. The Company is not responsible for content on any site outside the Company Site.

We make no warranty or representation, either express or implied, as to the content of such sites and users access third party websites at their own initiative and risk.

12 Advertising and Sponsorship

Part of the Company Site may contain advertising and sponsorship. Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for ensuring that material submitted for inclusion on the Company Site complies with relevant laws and codes. We will not be responsible to you for any error or inaccuracy in advertising and sponsorship material.

13 Applicable Law

Our Terms and Conditions will be subject to the laws of England. The supply of our services do not extend to Northern Ireland. Users in Scotland agree that English law is the only applicable law in regards to the use of the Company Site. Should any disputes arise, it must be governed in the Courts of England.

14 International Use

The Company site is to be used only for the pet industry trade within England, Scotland or Wales.

We make no warranty or representation that any material on the Company Site is appropriate or available for use in locations outside England, Scotland or Wales, and accessing the Company Site from territories where its contents are illegal or unlawful is prohibited. If you choose to access this site from locations outside England, Scotland or Wales, you do so on your own initiative and risk and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

15 Miscellaneous

You may not transfer any of your rights under these Terms and Conditions to any other person. We may transfer our rights under these Terms and Conditions to another business where we reasonably believe your rights will not be affected.

If you breach these Terms and Conditions and the Company chooses to ignore this, the Company will still be entitled to use its rights and remedies at a later date or in any other situation where you breach the Terms and Conditions.

The Company shall not be responsible for any breach of these Terms and Conditions caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

The Company Site is owned and operated by The Pets People Limited whose registered office is at Clock Cottage, Rowney Lane, Dane End, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 0JY. Registered in England with Company number: 05851276.
